Automatic parking system

In an automatic parking system for a vehicle, steering parameters X s at various points L s in a parking manoeuvre are stored in a teaching mode. When an automatic steering mode is subsequently activated, the steering system is controlled to reproduce these parameters so that the manoeuvre is automatically reproduced. The system allows complicated manoeuvres such as parallel parking or garaging of the vehicle to be carried out automatically without the need for an expensive sensing system.
