FIELD: hydraulic engineering. SUBSTANCE: device has debris discharge structure with upper and lower ponds. Novelty is that this structure is made in the form of a number of horizontal pipes in upper pond placed above upper level of annual reservoir drawdown with suction pipes mounted on trestle 6 for displacement. Suction pipes are dipped below debris level and spaced from water intake at distance sufficient for large suspended debris to get into bottom stream; placed downstream of site of suction pipes is sill with vertical upstream face; additional scour outlets are made under water intake headworks. EFFECT: improved protection of water intake against penetration of bottom and relatively large fractions of suspended debris with their main portion discharged without additional power requirement; eliminated danger of uncontrolled obstruction of scour structures and water intake is case of debris fall. 2 cl, 2 dwg
