PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To selectively and clearly listen to the desired sound in bilingual broadcast. SOLUTION: A television signal which is sound-multiplexed through an antenna 12 is received by a television tuner part 13 and it is separated into a video signal and a sound signal. A television picture by the separated video signal is displayed on a CRT display 14. A decoder 16 identifies whether the sound mode of the separated sound signal is a stereo mode or a monaural mode or a bilingual mode. A remote control transmitter 9 provided with an operation key part 10 consisting of plural operation keys such as multiplex sound selection keys and of an auxiliary speaker 8 is provided. When the identified sound mode is the bilingual mode and main sound or auxiliary sound is selected to be reproduced and outputted by the key operation of an operation key part 10, auxiliary sound or main sound is outputted from a main speaker 6 and main sound or auxiliary sound from the auxiliary speaker 8. |
