Device for measuring the flow rate of a fluid in a pipe

In a device with a spoiler (72) generating an eddy and a deflection sensor (58) to measure the flow rate of a fluid in a pipe (10), the spoiler (72) and the deflection sensor (58) are fitted in a pipe section (54) secured at one end of a tubular component (53), projecting perpendicularly downwards therefrom to form an L-shaped measuring device and insertable into the pipe (10) through an aperture (12). The tubular component (53) is fitted on a securing plate (16) which can be fixed on the pipe (10) and provides a fluid-tight seal for the aperture (12) for inserting the pipe section (54) into the pipe (10). The flow rate measured in the pipe section can be easily scaled up to the large nominal diameter. The device is particularly suitable for subsequent fitting to existing pipework with large nominal diameters.
