PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical fiber which has no gap between constituent members and is further stable, specially an optical fiber formed of a silver halide material. SOLUTION: A container 1, a die 2, a die receiver 3, and a punching rod 4 are formed of the same materials which are equal in coefficient of thermal expansion, i.e. nickel alloy having superior corrosion resistance and heat resistance; and the die 2 is fixed to the container 2 with the die receiver 3 and silver halide crystal 5 being the material of an optical fiber and the punching rod 4 are inserted into the container 1. Then the container 1 is covered with a heater 6, temperature control is performed by a temperature controller 9 to which a thermocouple 8 fitted in a thermocouple fitting hole 7 formed in the container 1 and a heater 6 are connected, and heating is performed by the heater 6. Then a press machine 10 presses the punching rod 4 and the optical fiber is obtained from the nozzle part of the die 2. |
