Concrete with additive, to make it porous, is poured into a trough-shaped mould. One side wall of the mould can be removed from the rest of the mould. A frame with wheels (7) is attached to the sidewall. When the casting has set, the mould is tipped over sideways until the wheels on the side panel engage with rails (25). The side wall is disconnected from the rest of the mould which is then removed. The finished casting is supported on the side wall which in turn is supported with its wheels on rails. The side wall with casting can now be wheeled to the next work station for finish machining after which it is wheeled into a pressurised autoclave for hardening.
