An operation unit (1) comprising a guiding section (14) for connecting first and second members (4 and 5) which can move in a plurality of directions from their respective reference positions (J), wherein the two members are linked to move in accordance with the operation of the guiding section (14). First and second detecting means (11 and 12) respectively detect at least the directions of the displacement of the members (4 and 5). An operated-state recognizing means recognizes the operation applied to the guiding section (14) based on the difference in the combination of the results detected by the detecting means (11 and 12).
