PURPOSE: To easily further inexpensively produce lead dioxide, contained in an active material of a positive electrode used in a lead acid battery, also to enhance a utilization factor of the active material. CONSTITUTION: A conductive additive material is obtained by heating a reaction product, obtained by reaction of alkoxysilane and its polymer with phenol resin, at 600 deg.C or more temperature. The conductive additive material thus obtained is added to an active material composition for a positive electrode of a lead acid battery containing, for instance, powder of containing lead and/or lead oxide and sulfuric acid.
