PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily manufacture a roller having many poles for magnetic recording by providing a cylindrical roller made of a magnetic material, providing many poles at the outer edge of the roller by magnetizing the material, and specifying the energy product of the material and the diameter of the roller. SOLUTION: A micromagnetic roller 10 for recording a repetitive pattern is so magnetized as to have, for example, 20 poles. The directions of the magnetization are alternately set like, for example, 12, 14, 16, and external lines of magnetic force like 18, 20, 24 are generated. The energy product of the magnetic material is set to 1×10<6> GOe or more, the diameter of the roller 10 is set to less than 0.5", and the material such as that made of NdFeB, SmCo5 or barium ferrite and having a surface magnetic field of at least 1000Oe is used. Such a micromagnetic roller is manufactured by a magnetizing unit having a solid conductive cylinder 34 in which axial grooves are at at a predetermined interval on the outer periphery.
