Hydraulic control arrangement for a valve in an internal combustion engine, in particular a large diesel engine, in which the power transmission to the valve mechanism 2 is carried out at least in part via a hydraulic medium. The arrangement comprises a chamber 5 which acts on the valve mechanism 2 and is filled with hydraulic medium, and the volume of which is dependent upon the quantity of hydraulic medium situated therein and which is connected to a control valve 14 which controls the closing of the valve, so that opening the control valve 14 brings about a reduction in the pressure prevailing in the chamber 5, a decrease in the volume of the chamber 5 and in this way closing of the valve. The control valve 14 comprises a duct 17 for hydraulic medium, which duct rotates together with a shaft, the speed of rotation of which is dependent on the operating cycle of the engine, and is adjustably connectable to said chamber 5. <IMAGE>
