The bottle crusher consists of an open-topped housing (1) to receive the bottle, having an aperture in its side for a pulsed hot air blower (4) like a paint stripper without its handle. A manually-operated compressing plate (2) with a knob (j) on the top is used to crush the bottle once it has been heated to an appropriate temperature (about 560 deg C), and a rocker switch (3) on the housing switches off the blower once the plate reaches its lower position.
