In a hardly flammable rubber article, consisting of a rubber substrate and polymer coating, the rubber material contains either rubber with polar gps. or polar component(s) and the polymer coating consists of an aliphatic polymer. Also claimed is a method of producing the article by applying the polymer coating to the rubber substrate at 50-80, esp. ca. 80 deg C.
