New ferrocene cpds. are of formula (I): -Z = a gp. -CH2Y, -CO-(CH2)n-CO-X, or -CO-X (n = 1-6) -X = (oligo)alkylene glycol with 1-10 alkoxy under units, or 2-18C alkanediol: -Y = X and OH, and -R represents - 2-18C alkyl, -7-20C aralkyl, or -H, if Y is not OH.
