The actuator or trip plate (9) lies axially between pre-damper input (70) and driving plate (4) and the projecting stops (92) of the plate (9) work with an edge of the first guide disc recess (12) as part of the first spring (5) to work the plate stops (92). The stop works with the peripheral end of the spring (5) and plate (2) recess rim (22) as also with axial projections (75) fixed to the input part (70) of the pre-damper. The projections are provided by driving stops (75) working in conjunction with the driving plate. The pre-damper has two guide plates (72,73) straddling the driving plate and the projections (75) form axial extensions on the guide plate (72) furthest from the driving plate and thus engage openings (45) in the driving plate so as to rotatably connect pre-damper and driving plate. The plate stops (92) form radial extensions used to engage the first damping spring (5).
