Even, wide-area recyclable carpet which is removable without unwished residues

A textile floor covering (1), esp. carpeting, has a base (2) and, attached to it, a pile (3) forming the top face. An underlay (5, 7) of textile weave or fleece is applied to and can be separated from the underside of the base via an, intermediate, separation layer (7). Pref. a second base (5) of textile material is placed on the underside of the base between it and the underlay (7). The first and second bases and the pile consist of recyclable material, e.g. a recyclable polyamide and the first and second bases can be joined together with a polyamide adhesive or by a heat treatment to melt fibres capable of being so stimulated.
