The fibres are drawn downwards through a foam of coating material so that they break the cell walls of the foam and become coated with a foam-free liquid. Specif., the fibres are treated immediately after forming from strands of molten glass thrown from a spinner during the prodn. of glass fibre mats. The foam pref. comprises an organosilane or organosiloxane coupling agent and an org. resin prepolymer coating agent.
