ARBITRARY MASKING TECHNIQUE FOR PAINTING OUT OF SHAPE FOR DISPLAY

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce a calculation amount and a memory amount by converting a conventional ROP(raster operation) instruction to a corrected instruction set by a printer driver routine introduced to a host computer. SOLUTION: As printer driver file 56 is loaded to a computer 40 as well and conversion from a conventional ROP paint-out instruction to an optional masking instruction and the conventional interface function of a printer driver are executed. A cable 58 transmits the data of PCL-5C from the computer 40 to a printer 60. Then, the data of the PCL-5C are appropriately formatted by a PCL formatter 62 and syntax analyzed and the processed data are stored inside a display list 64. Then, a masking buffer 30 is used in relation with the display list 64 and an image processor 66 and generates a rasterized black swath and a plane CMY swath. The respective swaths are sent to a printing engine 68 for printing.
