PURPOSE: To provide the method and device for document processing which can improve the operability of symbol input through easy operation. CONSTITUTION: When a symbol is inputted by an existent symbol input means and retrieval from a panel symbol information table is performed on the basis of its symbol code and font name; when a symbol is still registered, the 'frequency of use' is set to '1' and the symbol code and font name are newly registered in the panel symbol information table. When the inputted symbol is already registered, the 'frequency of use' is increased by '1'. On the basis of this panel symbol information table, symbols are sorted, font by font, in the decreasing order of the frequency of use and given 'serial numbers', and the symbol of a font which is currently specified is displayed as a symbol panel on a display device according to the order of the serial number. When the symbol which is already inputted is inputted again, the symbol specified by the symbol panel is selected and inputted. |
