PURPOSE: To provide a polymer insulator, which can prevent the deterioration of an insulated rod due to the erosion of the elastic insulating material, without lowering the fitting strength of the insulated rod and a holder. CONSTITUTION: An elastic insulating material 2 is previously molded in the periphery of a rod 1 made of FRP. Each holder 4 is caulked to both ends of the rod 1. A fitting part 4γof each holder 4 covers the end of the elastic insulating material 2, and the end surface thereof is extended to shed parts 3A, 3B positioned at the end of the elastic insulating material 2. Furthermore, the shed parts 3A, 3B are respectively formed with a flange part 3α, and the periphery of the fitting part 4γof the holder 4 is surrounded by the flange part 3α.
