PURPOSE: To easily attain digital data communication with a simple device via an existing telephone line by providing a data CODEC section coding/ decoding a digital transmission reception signal into a transmission code, an infrared ray emission and receiving means, and an infrared ray conversion section to the interface. CONSTITUTION: When an infrared ray signal modulated by a digital transmission signal is made incident from a terminal equipment to an infrared ray reception section 23, the infrared ray reception section 23 converts an incident infrared ray signal into an electric signal. A reception section 203 of an infrared ray conversion section 21 shapes an output signal from the infrared ray reception section 23 into a digital transmission signal and outputs it to a code section 200 of a data CODEC section 20. The code section 200 converts the input digital transmission signal into a digital transmission code. The digital transmission code is sent from the code section 200 to a digital line 14. The digital signal received by the telephone line is given to a decode section 201 from the digital telephone line 14 and the infrared ray emission section 22 emits the infrared ray signal modulated by the digital reception signal. |
