PURPOSE: To prevent paper slippage at print time by a simple mechanism. CONSTITUTION: Paper pressing members 20a, 22a which are made of a flexible resin sheet are fitted to the sides of a platen 12, a clearance through which the paper 24 is inserted is formed between the paper pressing members 20a, 22a and the paper supporting face of the platen 12, the lateral end of the paper 24 is inserted in the clearance, both sides of the paper 24 are pressed by the paper pressing members 20a, 22a. To print on the paper 24, a serial contact type printing head 10 is moved onto the paper 24 from the side of the platen 12 in a lifted state, when the printing head 10 moves onto the paper pressing member 20a, the print head 10 is lowered and presses the paper 24 from the top of the paper pressing member 20a. The printing head 10 moves in the direction of printing while pressing the paper pressing member 20a, comes down further when leaving the paper pressing member 20a and reaching the face of the paper 24, touches the paper 24, moves in the direction of printing while pressing the paper 24 and prints characters on the paper 24. |
