PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a dynamic charge holding type imaging device capable of transferring various densities of color with a compact structure. SOLUTION: On the basis of a control signal supplied from an external host computer through a multiplexer 58, a modulated voltage is supplied to a number of conductive electrodes 44 arranged in parallel on the first surface of a dielectric base 42 by a driver 62. An insulating material having a high dielectric constant is filled in the gap 45 between the electrodes 44. A polarity variable charge supplying source 46 extending across all the electrodes 44 is moved on a screw 50 by the rotation of a motor 54 driven by a synchronous driving circuit 56, and scanned along the second surface 48 of the dielectric base 42. Thus, the charge according to the modulated voltage is held on the second surface 48, and a latent image toned to a desired gradation every pixel can be formed on the second surface 48 of the dielectric base. The base having the electrodes may be formed into a drum, and the charge supplying source may be driven in pulse. |
