A process for the separation of laminated components from polyurethane adhesive bonded composite laminates is provided. In this process, the laminates are treated with monofunctional aliphatic alcohols with 3 to 12 carbon atoms or mixtures thereof at temperatures of 100 DEG C. to 200 DEG C. to alcoholize the polyurethane. If necessary, water is added to the process. The alcoholysis product is removed and the components are separated from each other. This process is particularly useful in separating fabric components from expanded porous polytetrafluoroethylene membrane.
