Foil inserts are applied to differing profile and size drawer and cupboard fronts from one common foil by scanning the surfaces and controlling cutting blades accordingly.Furniture items (31) are presented with a continuous foil (20) and the profile is followed by means of heat and pressure to apply the foil to the surface. The item is then turned over (60) and the reverse surface is scanned (40) in order to determine the required limits of the foil, the data being passed to control unit (45) for the cutters (51). Several items amy be simultaneously covered.
