PURPOSE: To control the hydrogen concentration in the polymerizer and to thereby produce a polyolefin having a wide molecular weight distribution, improved moldability and high stereoregularity by polymerizing anα-olefin in the presence of a catalyst system containing a metallocene compound and triisobutylaluminum as components of the polymerization catalyst. CONSTITUTION: This method comprises using a catalyst comprising a solid catalyst component essentially consisting of titanium, magnesium, halogen and an electron-donating compound, triisobutylaluminum and a metallocene compound represented by the formula: Cpn MY4-n (wherein Cp is an (un)substituted cyclopentadienyl group; M is an element selected from among titanium, zirconium and hafnium; Y is a group selected from among hydrogen, halogen, alkoxyl, amino, 1-10C alkyl or aryl; and n is an integer of 1-3).
