Electromagnetically-actuated lid opening and closure system

The system consists of a waste container with upwardly pivotable lid, an electromagnet on the container periphery and connected to the lid via its core and a thrust rod attached to it, a restoring spring and a hand-operation strap attached to the lid. When current is passed through the magnet, the core and rod are partly withdrawn into the magnet and a restoring spring compressed.The other end of the rod is rotatably connected via an axle to a lever arm part of the container lid, enabling the lid to be pivoted upwards by about 90 degrees to open the container. After the topmost opening position is reached, the waste components can be delivered conveniently, rapidly and safely into the container. The container can also be opened manually. The duration of opening can be individually set using an electrical circuit. When no current is passing, the restoring spring closes the lid.
