PURPOSE: To improve combustion efficiency by suppressing abrupt reduction of inner cylinder pressure after closing an intake control valve for reducing pumping loss, delaying a closing timing of the intake control valve, and suppressing attenuation of swirl generated in a cylinder. CONSTITUTION: An intake control device ID1 for an internal combustion engine has an intake passage changeover valve 32 which is closed on a low load operation state area, on a downstream side of an intake control valve inside an intake passage 20. A first opening 34 is communicated a portion between the intake control valve 30 and the intake passage changeover valve 32, while a second opening 35 is communicated with a downstream side of the intake passage changeover valve 32. A bypass passage 33 which has a diameter smaller than that of the intake passage 20 is provided. An ECU judges whether or not the present operation state is under a low load state based on an engine speed detected by an engine speed sensor 50, and an accelerator opening detected by an accelerator opening sensor 51. |
