A magnetically controlled gas valve for opening or shutting off the gas supply, in particular to the combustion space of a gas-operated refrigerator, provided with a valve body which can bear on a valve seat and which may be lifted from said valve seat by a magnetic force, whereby manually operated control means are provided for fixing the valve body in its closed position.
