PURPOSE: To obtain the bitter taste-removed juice or powder of the Momordica charantia L. by treating the ground product of the Momordica charantia L. having medicinal effects such as a hypoglycemic action and a serum cholesterol- reducing action or its juice with active carbon, etc. CONSTITUTION: The ground product of the Momordica charantia L. or its juice is treated with a macroporous nonionic adsorption resin or active carbon. The treated bitter taste-removed solution can hold the hypoglycemic action, etc., as such. The treated solution is used as the juice as such or as a concentrated solution, or is pulverized by a lyophilization method, etc. The (co)polymer of styrene/divinylbenzene, acrylic ester, acrylic amide, acrylic sulfoxide, etc., is used as the matrix resin of the macroporous nonionic adsorption resin, e.g. Amberlite XAD-1. |
