The clutch incorporates a reaction plate (11) and a pressure plate (12) which can move axially relative to it. Between the two plates there are friction linings (13A,13B) which are divided annually into two separate and concentric tracks (A,B). The friction linings in the two tracks are made from different materials, and at least one of the tracks has its linings shaped to provide for progressive clutch engagement, incorporating a refractory material with a friction coefficient which is lower than that of the other track's linings. In addition, the two tracks are offset axially relative to one another, so that the one with progressive engagement makes contact first. |
