PURPOSE: To carry out gear change control at proper shift speed individually when upshift is demanded under an approximately constant throttle valve open ing condition and when upshift is demanded following a change in the throttle valve opening in a continuously variable transmission. CONSTITUTION: A basic change gear ratio is set on the basis of vehicle speed VSP and throttle valve opening TVO, and a control target change gear ratio is gradually brought closer to the basic change gear ratio according to shift speed. Feedback control is carried out so that an actual change gear ratio is coincident with the control target change gear ratio. When a gear is upshifted (S1) and a rate of change in the throttle valve opening TVO is the predetermined value or less (S3) while a rate of change in the basic change gear ratio set on the basis of an operating condition is the predetermined value or less (S5), shift, speed is increased in comparison with that in upshift following the closing operation of the throttle valve (S4, S6). |
