<p>PURPOSE: To provide the device and method for handwritten character registration which make an operator write a character by tracing an existent font pattern and prevent the peculiarity of the operator from being inputted. CONSTITUTION: This device is equipped with a font data base 5 which stores font patterns, a handwritten character pattern data base 6 which stores character pattern information used to recognize a written character, and a control part 4 which displays a font pattern on a display 2 when an additionally indicated character is present in the font pattern data base 5, extracts features from the written character inputted through a tablet 3, and stores the features in the handwritten character data base 6 as character pattern information; and the operator writes a character by tracing a font pattern to add character pattern information with characters which are standard and generally usable.</p> |
