PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an opening and holding device for a swing door capable of being attached to a door easily, being operated by soft touch, holding a storage attitude of a leg rod securely, and preventing the deterioration of a holding force even if it is repetitively used for a long time. SOLUTION: This opening and holding device for a swing door consists of a main body 1 which is attached to a door and is long in the vertical direction and a leg rod 3 which is attached so as to turn freely and vertically through a pivot shaft 2 extending in the direction of main body width in a lower end part of the main body 1 and has a predetermined length. A magnet element 4 attracting and holding the leg rod 3 at an attitude at which the leg rod 3 is folded in so as to overlap it on the main body 1 is attached to either of the main body 1 and the leg rod 3, an attracted body 5 attracted by the magnet element 4 is provided in either of the leg rod 3 and the main body 1, and an adhesive tape 8 provided with a peeling paper on a surface thereof is mounted on a rear surface of the main body 1.
