PURPOSE: To reduce power loss of a power converter by feeding a control signal to the control terminal of a semiconductor device using the energy stored in an energy storing means. CONSTITUTION: When an ON signal is delivered from a control means 4 to the gate terminal of a semiconductor device 1, a main current Id begins to flow and energy is stored in an energy storing means 3 depending on the variation of the main current Id. The stored energy is eventually fed, as a base current, from the energy storing means 3 to the base terminal of the semiconductor device 1. Consequently, power loss in the semiconductor device 1 can be reduced without causing increase of power loss in the control means 4. Since the energy to be stored in the energy storing means 3 and the base current Ib vary depending on the magnitude of the main current, the base current exhibits ON voltage reduction effect over the entire value of main current thus realizing reduction of power loss.
