One=piece cotyloid implant for hip prosthesis

The radio-transparent implant (1) has three-dimensional radiographic markers (15,17) for determining its position after fitting. The markers are in the form of two open-ended metal rings of different diameters, fitted into grooves in the outer surface of the implant and positioned so that the degree of anteversion or retroversion of the implant can be measured from a radiographic image. Each of the rings has a turned-over end which engages with a hole in the implant, with the holes set some 30 degrees apart.
