Braked castors

A castor (10) comprises a body (12) a wheel (14) rotatably mounted to said body and brake means (16) operable to prevent rotation of the wheel. The wheel is provided with a plurality of uniformly circumferentially spaced apart formations (28) and the brake means (16) is movable to a braking position in which an engaging portion thereof either engages with a said formation (figure 5) or engages with portions of an adjacent pair of said formations (Figure 6) according to the rotational position of the wheel relative to the body.
