PURPOSE:To miniaturize an optical amplifier without generating a loss fluctuation by a method wherein communication use optical fibers having a specified bend diameter are incorporated in the interior of the optical amplifier. CONSTITUTION:An optical amplifier is provided with a signal light incident connector 1, an optical isolator 2, an incident side optical fiber 3, an excitation light source 4, an excitation light use optical fiber 5, an excitation light use photocoupler 6, a rare-earth doped fiber 7, an emitting side optical fiber 8, a band pass filter 9, a signal light emitting connector 10 and a device substrate 11. In this optical amplifier, a normal communication use quartz optical fiber, that is, a 125mum clad diameter and 1.3mum wavelength range use quartz optical fiber is used as the fibers 3 and 8. Provided that in respect to these fibers 3 and 8 these bend diameter Rs is set in 40mm or longer and at a value approximate to 40mm. |
