The magnetic valve, which can be used both as an individual valve for handling low flow rates and as a pilot valve for valves handling higher flow rates, has a narrow, elongated square valve housing (10) in which are formed two seats (38, 40) and a longitudinal chamber (26). A bar-like armature (28) is fitted freely and pivotable at one blunt end (30) in said chamber (26). The armature (28) has two recesses (42, 44) opposite the seats (38, 40). A seal (46, 48) is fitted in each recess. The armature (28) is held in its operative position by a return spring (50) secured to the base of the chamber (26) and engaging in one recess (44) in the armature (28).
