Wind-controlled regulating device for windmill wheel

The regulating device has a lever with the rotor on one arm and a rectangular wind vane on the other. The vane (1) is pivoted to the lever arm (3) at the top edge. The drive coefficient of the wind vane for free-stream flow in the vane plane is greater than zero and also greater than the resistance coefficient. The vane may be corrugated and may have a different surface roughness on its two side surfaces. It is capable of turning to about 88 deg. out of the vertical plane. The rotor (5) may be fitted with a freewheeling device.
