PURPOSE:To provide a wheelchair supported by two substantially U shaped legs standing in parallel and having a detachable seat with a moterized driving unit installed in front of the bottom parts of the legs to eliminate difficulty encountered by a user when transferring and using a toilet. CONSTITUTION:A wheelchair is provided with a leg 1 substantially in the shape of the letter U, standing in parallel on both sides and a seat 2 is held by a belt 10 hung from the armrest section 1a of the leg 1; underneath and behind the seat 2 is open space. The armrest section 1a is connected with a front support section 1b which is extended to a bottom section 1c, forming the leg 1 on both sides and a pair of the bottom section 1c are fixedly joined with a floor plate 5. A motorized driving unit 6 comprizing a battery, motor, etc., is installed in front of the bottom section 1c, allowing a wheel 8 on each side to be driven independently. The wheelchair is so structured as to allow the seat 2 to be attached to or removed from the leg 1 by one-touch action of a user, offering a seat for interchangeable use, e.g. seat for comfortable living, seat with a backrest, seat for use in a toilet etc.
