The microwave pulse generator provides pulses with a pulse duration in the nanosecond range, using a constant width pulse generator (9), a charge storage diode (14) and a microwave resonance circuit. The pulse generator is coupled via a pulse amplifier to a differential circuit, providing a damped sinusoidal oscillation, fed to the charge storage diode via a matching network (11). The charge storage diode is incorporated in the microwave resonance circuit, which is activated by the blocking of the diode, with a characteristic oscillation provided during the discharge of the stored charge, supplied to the pulse generator output via a filter resonator (12).
