Composite material for use as shoe inlay, comprises at least one textile substrate, e.g. a woven fabric, knit or nonwoven, coated and or impregnated to cover at least part of the substrate with a mixt. comprising short fibred or powdered leather and/or collage particles, and a thermoplastic polymer. The thermoplastic polymer pref. has a softening temp. of 50-140 deg C and is in the form of a powder or short fibres. The substrate comprises several, pref. nonwoven, layers bonded together by means of the coating and/or impregnating polymer.
