PURPOSE:To enhance the stability of a ground color and reversible recording properties, in the thermal recording material having a thermal color forming layer containing a dye precursor and a coupler, by using a specific urea compd. as the coupler to add the same to the thermal color forming layer. CONSTITUTION:A thermal recording material having a thermal color forming layer containing a colorless or light-colored dye precursor and a coupler reacting with the dye precursor at the time of heating to develop a color develops a color by instantaneous chemical reaction started by heating due to a thermal head, a hot stamp or laser beam to obtain visible recording. In this case, a urea compd. represented by either one of formulae I, II, III (wherein X is a 1-6C alkyl group, a halogen atom or a hydrogen atom, Y is a divalent group having 30 or less carbon atoms and Z is a trivalent group having 30 or less carbon atoms) is used as the coupler to be added to the thermal color forming layer. |
