The keyboard comprises both the normal simple keys (2) for producing notes, and one or more special keys (5-12) mounted to pivot about an axis (13) for controlling special functions or particular modes of operation. Each pivoting key includes a first region (15) on one side of the pivoting axis (13) cooperating with a first electrical control switch (17). Each pivoting key also includes a second actuating region (16) on the other side of the pivoting axis cooperating with a second electrical control switch (18). This controls a different mode or function.
