The novel feature in a cyan dye-donor element for thermal dye transfer imaging is that the dye dispersed in the polymeric binder of the dye layer is a mixt. of at least 3 different 2-carbamoyl- 4-(N-(p-aminoaryl)imino)-1,4-naphthoquinone dyes each of formula (I) but proviso that at least one of the dyes has (a) R1 = 2-4C unbranched alkyl, opt. substd. by a 1-4C alkoxy gp.; and/or (ii) are of both of R2 and R3 = 3-6C branched alkyl. R1 -R3 = 1-6C alkyl, 5-7C cycloalkyl or 5-10C aryl (each opt. substd.) or allyl and with R2 and R3 opt. combining together (or singly or together with X) to form a 5- or 6-membered ring; R4 and X = H, 1-6C opt. substd. alkyl, halogen, -NHCOR1 or -NHSO2R1; and n = 1,2,3 or 4. |
