The present invention provides an electric cleaner which improves a dirt detection precision of an optical sensor. The dirt of the optical sensor (44) is detected in a period between supplying power and activating an electric blower (18) by a control power source (42). Because the dirt of the optical sensor (44) is detected at a state that the electric blower (18) is stopped, the misdetection for amount of dirt, etc. which passes through an air passage because of driving of the electric blower (18) is prevented, thereby improving the dirt detection precision of the optical sensor (44). |
