A circuit-breaker 10 of the kind comprising a frame 60, fixed in the housing 11 and mounting the movable contact arm assembly 88 and electromagnetic assembly 72, with the operating member 44 coupled to the movable arm 90 by a linkage assembly 122 which, at least when contacts 91, 92 are closed, acts as a rigid body, is characterized by the linkage assembly 122 being pivotally coupled to the operating member 44 by a pin 124 which fixedly engages the frame 60 when contacts 91, 92 are closed, which fixed engagement is not broken by small movements or vibrations of the operating member 44 relative to the housing 11 other than the operating movement of member 44 out of its contactsclosed position. Coil 76 attracts an armaturetripper member 94 upon overload to release a latch 133 (see also Figs. 8, 9, not shown) and allow collapse of the linkage assembly 122 and opening of contacts 91, 92, under torsion spring 114 in conventional manner. The breaker is trip-free and is reclosed manually by lever 44. An auxiliary switch 164 may be operated upon opening of contacts 91, 92 (Figs. 10-12, not shown). Calibration is possible via adjustable spring 98 and stop 81 for armature 104 included in member 94. Lever 44 may be pivoted on the frame 60, and the pivot pin mounts the frame 60 in the housing 11 along with the pin 110 pivotally mounting the movable contact arm 90. As shown, the frame 60 is mounted in housing 11 by abutments 62, 64, on housing portions (12), 14 (Fig. 2, not shown), and tabs 66, while lever 44 is pivoted by pin 54 in a bushing 32 mounted in the cover 24 by which the breaker 10 is mountable in a panel (not shown).
