Three=cylinder IC engine

All the individual crank angles (9,10,11) of a crankshaft lie at least approximately in a common plane but the angle (11) associated with the middle cylinder is offset 180 degs. from the crank angles (9,10) associated with the two outer cylinders. The face of the piston (4) in the middle cylinder exposed to the cylinder pressure is at least equal to the sum of the corresponding piston faces in the outer cylinders and the masses moved as a result of same equal the sum of the corresponding values of the two pistons in the outer cylinders. The three cylinders lie in a common longitudinal plane of the engine.
