PURPOSE:To obtain a thermal transfer recording material excellent in transfer properties, hue and fastness and imparting an image not lowered in sharpness by constituting the thermal transfer recording material of a thermal transfer dye donating material containing a dissociable pyrrolotriazole based azomethine dye and a thermal transfer image receiving material containing a basic substance and/or a mordant. CONSTITUTION:In a thermal transfer recording material consisting of a thermal transfer dye donating material wherein a dye donating layer containing a thermal transfer dye is provided on a support and a thermal transfer image receiving material wherein a receiving layer containing a dye acceptive compd. is provided on a support, the dye donating layer contains at least one of dyes represented by formulae I-TV (wherein R<1>-R<7> are H and R<1> and R<2> and/or R<3> and R<4> and/or R<5> and R<6> of nonmetal atom groups may be bonded to form a ring structure) and the dye acceptive compd. is a basic substance and/or a mordant. When this thermal transfer recording material is used, an image having high transfer density, excellent in hue and fastness and not lowered in sharpness with the elapse of time is obtained. |
