Carbamates related to physostigmine of formula (I) and their salts are new. (R1 = alkyl, cycloalkyl, bicycloalkyl, aryl or arylloweralkyl; R2 = H or alkyl or NR1R2 forms a monocyclic or bicyclic ring of 5-12C; m = 0-2; each X = H, halogen, lower alkyl, NO2 or amino). Also claimed are intermediates in the prepn. of (I) of formulae (II) and (III) and their salts. (R3 = H or alkyl; R4 = H, cyanoalkyl or aminoalkyl; R6 = H or alkyl; R5 = H or alkyl).
